TRIBOTECH INSTRUCTIONS
The TRIBO R/C Power Matrix Commutator Lubricant (these products are commonly refered to as "comm drops") works on an entirely different principle than other comm drops such as Big John Zubak's drops or Bulit drops. Unless you make certain changes in the way you think in terms of how comm drops work and making some gearing changes, you may not realize the full benefits of the TRIBO R/C Power Matrix.
***The TRIBO R/C Power Matrix Comm Lube is not "break-in" drops. Make sure your brushes are fully seated before applying!***
The most important thing you need to know about the TRIBO R/C comm lube is it works more on the torque side of the power band. It adds RPM as well, but it creates mostly torque because it promotes better current flow and lubrication. This is why it is best to gear a stock motor up a tooth or two from what you were running before. The motor will have more power now, not just rpm.
This is not for publication as when someone sends me something to test, I will only mention the brand name on my forums if I like it. I won't put down someone's product since they were nice enough to send me. The BJZubak's Juice blue comm drops adds a significant amount rpm to a stock motor. But the loss of torque is so great that the overall power is LESS! You need the torque (since HP = rpm x torque). I imagine the reason why racers think his stuff works is they see a boost on the top end of the straight but don't realize how much they gave up on the slower parts of the track. If you use the TRIBO R/C Power Matrix and gear up, you will see even more gains in top end speed without any loss of power in the corners! If you just use the TRIBO R/C drops without changing your gearing, your motor will still run cooler and last twice as long between rebuilds but the gain in power won't be as noticable since top-end straight-away speed is pretty much rpm (wheel speed) related.
Using a Competition Electronics Turbo45 Dyno, the increases in power at readily apparent. Flywheel dyno's tend to obscure these increases in the plethora of useless information they give you, but if you really know how to tune with them, you can see it.
Using the TRIBO R/C Power Matrix with modified motors is really incredible. As you run less and less winds on a motor, you lose torque but you gain more RPM than the torque you lose so your overall power increases (since HP = rpm x torque). This fact is the reason we have to run smaller pinions as we drop down in turns. The TRIBO R/C comm lube replaces the lost torque so you can run a hotter wind, even with the same gearing and the motor will run cooler, last longer and be more efficient (within certain limits, of course).
I think this product information is important for the racer to know. Let me say again, Power Matrix works on the other side of the power band than the other drops on the market. But it's interesting to know, adding TRIBO comm lube to a motor and brushes that were already saturated with the other blue or purple drops still brings some of the lost torque back although not all of it. However, the brushes are already starting to be desolved by the other brand’s petroleum distillates. To fully utilize the TRIBO Power Matrix Comm Lube, you have to replace the old saturated brushes and gear up or run a hotter wind.
APPLYING THE TRIBO R/C POWER MATRIX COMM LUBE TO THE MOTOR. The best method I have found for applying TRIBO R/C Power Matrix is 1/2 to 1 small drop directly on the commutator though the holes in the endbell. You can still apply the TRIBO on the brushes but it's messier and can attract some dirt in off-road situations. Just apply it before your race.
The TRIBO R/C Power Matrix keeps the brush particles and carbon deposits from attaching to the commutator. It holds these contaminates suspended. Therefore, it is advisable (but not mandatory) to spray the endbell of the motor out every other heat race or so, let the motor dry and re-apply the TRIBO to the commutator and bushings or bearings.
With TRIBO R/C Power Matrix you will be amazed at how long your motor lastes between rebuilds. The slave motor on my CE dyno lasts at least twice as long now before my torque readings start to jump around (indicating it's time to rebuild the slave motor) and I subject the slave to some serious loads every day.
WHAT ONE RACER HAS TO SAY ABOUT THE TRIBO R/C POWER MATRIX COMM LUBE.
"We had about 80 participants, there was 32 in my class (at the INDY Velodrome Nationals earlier this year-BJ). On the Street Spec Motors, they were cleaned after every race. I have a Turbo Dyno and I saw an increase in power, torque and efficiency in all the motors I tried. The spec brushes may need less product put on them. I did timing and scoring for that class and the guys that I applied the drops to were faster. Anyways you have 2 National victories to your credit and probably 3, because I let Greg June use it and he won his class. So you had victories in 4 cell modified with Mark Corns, Busch class with Greg June and I won 4 cell 19turn. Not bad at all I would say. Thanks again for comm drops."

I have been building and designing toy car motors for a long time now. The TRIBO R/C POWER MATRIX COMMUTATOR LUBRICANT is the only comm lube I recommend for my motors. Any other brand will severely alter the intended power band, wear out the motor faster and/or cannot be guaranteed to work with the motor brushes I use. TRIBO makes excellent bearing and bushing lube as well as a comm drop and it works great in any off-road vehicle or on dirty tracks because it is 100% synthetic.

DO'S AND DONT'S WHEN USING TRIBO
Don’t apply the TRIBO to a motor that has had other drops applied. The other drops probably have already started to desolve the brushes and the TRIBO can’t work as well. The TRIBO can’t do this as it is 100% synthetic. There are no brush killing petroleum solvents in it.
Don’t apply the TRIBO initially to a dirty motor. It will emulsify the built-up carbon, brush dust and other contaminates in the motor and form "goop" that accumulates in the slots.
Do apply the TRIBO initially to a freshly rebuilt motor (with new fully broken-in brushes) or at least one that has been cleaned thoroughly.
Do apply 1/2 to 1 small drop directly on the commutator through the endbell holes. Less is more with the TRIBO R/C Power Matrix.
Don’t use the TRIBO as a "break-in" drop and do apply only to fully broken-in brushes .
I fully tested this product and it works very well under most circumstances if the instructions are followed.
